HDR sources still very very dark

  • Hey folks - I'm still loving my projector, but I'm finding HDR films on the native Disney Plus app to be almost unwatchable because of how dark they are.

Is there any chance of a "disable HDR" option in an upcoming firmware? If I plug a non-HDR laptop in via HDMI and play it from that, I get a perfectly bright picture, so it's not that the projector can't do it. It's just that it seems to have an issue with HDR feeds for some reason. But I'd rather not have to hook up my laptop every time I want to watch a movie on D+ because it auto-defaults to HDR with no way to turn that off...

Thanks for all the support up to now, but I'd be really interested to hear what the engineers say about this one. 🙂

  • @JasonJason Hi Jason, good day. Thanks for your support.

Mogo pro support HDR decode, and the dark image issue on Disney+ is from the video source, after the first optimization from Disney+, some videos looks bettery now. And they are keep doing that in the later update, please be patient and stay tuned. 🙂

  • @Ari are you sure this is a D+ source problem?

I had to disable HDR output on my Firestick 4k too because any Netflix shows with HDR coming through that to the MoGo Pro were also way too dark to watch properly.

Couldn't there just be some way to disable this functionality? The projector doesn't output HDR anyway, so why even have it tell sources that it's HDR capable. If it didn't do that, they would then just default to normal colour-level streams and be perfectly watchable. Or is this an Android TV problem?

I'll join the FB page too. Thank you 🙂

  • @JasonJason we have been working on Disney+ to optimize the videos.

And we do got the similar feedback from other customers as well, but sorry to say can't turn off the HDR effect yet. Mogo pro support HDR decode, this tech would be optimized at the same time from XGIMI as well. 🙂 Please stay tuned for the future updates.
